Vehicle collision avoidance system applies the brakes

In a 30km/h zone, an impatient and speeding driver tried to overtake me in a narrow 'traffic calming' chicane.  It seems the car was smarter than the driver - I'm pretty sure the car's collision avoidance system applied the brakes.  I was riding at 30-35km/h.  There was no legal need to overtake, nor was there any room to do so safely.
