Yes, it is possible to mount an old Fly6 sideways, but I gave up after a while because the mounting method I bodged up wasn't really working. Hint - maybe some printed mounts for different types of handlebars would be a good idea? I'm sure there are a stack of old cameras floating around which could be re-purposed for a side view.

And the dates are different on the cameras because they were brand new and I hadn't set them up properly at this point.
