8ACL418 CA: Wrong-Way Driver Endangers Pedestrians & Traffic

This video captures a reckless driver traveling on the wrong side of the road, aggressively honking at oncoming traffic, and then deliberately swerving toward me, clearly an attempt to force me into the shoulder before speeding away. The driver does the same to the autos just before reaching me.

This occurred just seconds before a California Highway Patrol officer—already on scene investigating a separate collision at the Honey Run Covered Bridge—was taking an accident report. That earlier crash appeared to result from one driver pulling out while another exited the Bridge parking lot.

The same officer can be seen in this footage collecting details from involved parties, and later taking down my information so this video evidence could be provided to him. The video also documents witness vehicles and their license plates, while the officer’s own ALPR (automatic license plate reader) dashcam captured additional supporting details.

Unfortunately, experience tells me that in cases like this, accountability often lags. Still, as my other recordings from yesterday demonstrate, there were multiple wrecks in this area—no surprise given the conduct of drivers like this one.

The individual here was a male driver operating a late-model white Subaru Forester, California plate 8ACL418, identifiable by a trailer hitch and a sticker on the rear tinted glass. His route continued toward Centerville Road, an area where pedestrians regularly access Butte Creek, the Bridge, and other recreational sites—making his behavior even more dangerous.
